What it does
CA 04 74 adds additional insured status for Covered Autos Liability for the persons or organizations the policy designates. ISO introduced it in its 2026 multistate forms revision (CA-2026-OFR26), approved for policies effective on or after September 1, 2027 in states that have adopted the revision. Its blanket counterpart, CA 04 73, applies automatically when a written contract or agreement requires additional insured status.
Who needs it
Businesses with a limited number of customers, landlords or project owners that require additional insured status on the auto policy. The existing ISO approach, the designated insured endorsement CA 20 48, identifies insureds only to the extent they already qualify under Who Is An Insured; CA 04 74 is ISO's dedicated additional insured form for auto.
Selling notes
- Read how the endorsement limits the additional insured's coverage (for example, to liability arising from the named insured's conduct) and whether limits are capped at what the contract requires.
- Pair with primary and noncontributory (CA 04 49) and waiver of subrogation endorsements when the contract calls for them.
- Use the schedule's exact legal names from the contract.
