What it was
CR 00 01 was the employee dishonesty coverage form (Coverage Form A – Blanket) of the older ISO crime program, in which each crime coverage was a separate lettered coverage form. It insured loss of money, securities and other property caused by dishonest acts of employees, with all employees covered blanket.
Where agents still see it
Some carriers continue to file and issue the old lettered forms, for example in program and package products, so the number still appears on renewals and in carrier filings. Current ISO business uses the Commercial Crime Coverage Form or Policy, where employee dishonesty became the Employee Theft part of the Fidelity insuring agreement.
Quoting and selling notes
- When replacing an old Form A, compare the definition of employee, the discovery period and the prior-insurance provisions; the current forms define theft and employee differently.
- Moving to CR 00 21 or CR 00 23 also brings computer fraud, fraudulent impersonation and ERISA plan coverage that Form A did not include.
