What it does

CR 07 52 is a conditional exclusion: it does nothing while the federal Terrorism Risk Insurance Program is in force, but excludes terrorism losses under the crime coverage if the program expires or is changed during the policy period. ISO revised the crime terrorism forms to 06 22 editions along with the base forms.

Who needs it

Crime policies whose terms extend past a scheduled expiration of the federal program.

How it fits the policy

An exclusion endorsement narrows the base form; it is listed among the endorsements forming part of the policy on the declarations. Because exclusions are often attached by the underwriter rather than requested, check the forms schedule on every quote and renewal and explain any added exclusion to the insured. ISO's forms index lists the current edition for 49 jurisdictions, so confirm it is approved in the insured's state.

Quoting and selling notes

  • Explain to the insured that the exclusion is dormant unless the federal program lapses mid-term.
  • Pair with the policyholder disclosure notice required for the terrorism offer.
