What it does
CAR's manual states that when insuring risks subject to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Law, the Massachusetts Mandatory Endorsement MM 99 11 (or, for dealers, MM 25 01) must be issued. The endorsement adapts the multistate Business Auto Coverage Form to Massachusetts law. The compulsory coverages listed in the manual are:
- Compulsory bodily injury liability at $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident;
- Personal injury protection at $8,000 per person;
- Property damage liability at $30,000 basic limits; and
- Uninsured motorists at basic limits of $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident.
CAR also notes that MM 99 11 modifies the coverage form's pollution exclusion by applying it only to damages that exceed specified compulsory-type amounts. The current edition on CAR's January 2027 list is 07 25.
